I wanted something that wrote smoothly without skipping. Since I am also left handed, I don't want a pen that puts down so much ink on the page that it smears when your hand goes across it. I like these pens. They are everything I looked for in a pen. If I were still grading papers, I would get the colored ink versions of this. I agree with Paper Mate's commercials that this is a pen that is sure to disappear if someone borrows it from you. Be aware that there is a plastic nib on the point to keep it from drying out before you use it that needs to be removed. For those who want this information, they are made in China.

They are not quite as good as they are made out to be, but they are still worthwhile. They are not flawlessly smooth, in fact, I find them a little on the scratchy side. However, for the medium point on them, they are not terrible. The ink does not smear if I write left handed with them, and it seems to dry fairly quickly. If you purchase them in an 8 pack, they are very affordable, and are better than using the average cheap pen. While I have resumed looking for a better basic pen, these have been placed in important areas - by the computer, in the car and in a purse. They are not so nice that if they get lost or stolen I will be upset or out a lot of money, but they are nice enough to use for general purposes. They do include a tiny cap at the tip to keep them from drying out. (make sure to remove this before trying to use them!)
